Tutorial: Adding Music Player

Our profiles are highly customizable with outside objects such as images, widgets, music players and more. All you need for it to work is the HTML code and luckily, layout customization websites provide you with the code which you can easily copy and paste into your Writers-Network profile.

In this tutorial, we will explain how to add a music player to your profile homepage. The first step is to find a music player. A simple Google search will return thousands of available music players. We personally recommend the following two players which are popular amongst Writers-Network members:

1. Project Playlist: http://www.playlist.com
2. My Flash Fetish: http://www.myflashfetish.com
3. SoundCloud: http://www.soundcloud.com
4. YouTube: http://www.youtube.com

For this tutorial, we will use the Project Playlist music player. Follow these easy steps to get your very own profile music player:

1. The first step is to create an account on http://www.playlist.com/user/register

2. Once you are logged in, you will need to create your first play list: http://www.playlist.com/node/add/playlist

3. The next step is to add music to your player. You can do this by clicking “Search for Music”: http://search.playlist.com/ - Once the search page opens, enter either the artist name or song title and begin your search.

4. If the song is available, a list of different tracks will appear. To add one to your play list, simply click the add button (it’s a circle image with a + sign in the middle). Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you are satisfied with the number of songs in your play list.

5. Next, you need to get the code they will provide you with to add to your profile. Go directly to: http://www.playlist.com/generate_code and click on the last link that says: E. Get the code for any other social network, blog or your own personal website

6. Select your preferences like auto-start, color etc… and then click “Get Code”

7. A text area will appear with a whole bunch of code. Highlight/Select all the text, right-click and copy it.

8. Go to your www.writers-network.com members area and click on “Update My Profile”.

9. Scroll down to the “Introduction” section where your homepage welcome text is typed and paste the player code into the bottom of this text area and click “SAVE PROFILE”

You’re done! You can also add a music player to your biography page or news page following the above steps. The only difference is that you should paste your code into the biography text box and/or news text box instead.

I've tried to access this site. And got the message that it's only available in the US!

As of June 1st, Playlist.com no longer allows embedded playlists. Your playlist can only be listened to by way of a link back to their site.

Thanks for the update!
