Now and Then

What I seem to be sees the clock
Consuming my days like a vulture.

What I really am knows no time
But now,

As it always has, even before I
Arrived on this plane.

So it is that in the place that
Matters most,

Then is the name of times
That don't exist.

Nicely penned and well put. Yes the past is gone and the only thing we really have is this moment in time. Well done. SL

Thanks.  It is easy to say the present moment is all there is, but the mind keeps drifting off into the past and future.  If we could live more in the present, I think we would be a lot happier.

My friend Jeff...
would love this! Incredibly Zen! So much so that I had to read it three times and I near about got a headache. Wow! Well said and spotlight worthy.

Thanks, Michael.  The past is a ghost, the future a question.  The only thing real is this moment.

John, I have been retired for a few years. Time seems to float by me since I refuse to be dictated by the taskmaster called the clock. Before I was retired, time was critical especially when trying to meet deadlines for important meetings. I agree, that clocks consume our time like vultures. At least retirement does not have a stranglehold on me. I am allowed to breathe and enjoy its freedom. ~

Thanks.  I know what you mean.  I have been retired for six years and now I would be psychologically unfit to return to work.

I have done volunteer work.

So do I, but that's nowhere near as stressful as my work was.
