Strength

There is strength in the madness
There is strength in the fear
There is strength in the loneliness
When others are near
There is strength in the memories
There is strength in the scars
There is strength in the distance
When they are so far
There is strength in the heartache
There is strength in the tears
There is strength in the shadows
When darkness shows clear
There is strength in the wounds
There is strength in the now
There is strength deep inside me
Although I'm not sure how
There is strength in my wisdom
There is strength in my voice
There is strength in my life
I don't have a choice
There is strength deep inside me
There is strength in my mind
There is strength to keep going
When others aren't kind
There is strength in the whispers
There is strength in the yell
There is strength in the daylight
When I'm walking through hell
There is strength in the cutting
There is strength when I fall
There is strength in the silence
When on God I call
There is strength in the waiting
There is strength in the shame
There is strength in knowing
I was never to blame
There is strength in the fighting
There is strength in the past
There is strength ever flowing
Enough strength to last
There is strength for today
There is strength for tonight
There is strength for tomorrow
When I continue my fight
There is strength in the hiding
There is strength in the walls
There is strength in my voice
When for help I call
There is strength I can't see
There is strength I don't show
There is strength deep inside me
How I don't know.

Author Notes

Someone reminded me of how strong I am.  So this poem reflects that.  Thank you for all of those that support and stand by me either in person or through the computer as I continue to walk my path.

Great
I could feel the conviction portrayed. This is a great piece. These things are true, was a pleasant reminder for me. Respect.

my own personal viv would be to cut out 2/3rds of the "There is" to improve the flow and make the reader do some work. I would alternate this, for example only use it as the1st line, and later only use it as the 3rd line (excluding the 1st and second). Try reciting it to see what i mean. Readers can be lazy and they can get annoyed when a writer makes them repeat a line over and over again that they already know is implied. Hope this helps, if it doesn't, ignore it

Amazing!
This is something I want to print out and frame. It is exactly what I, and anyone facing troubling times need to read. Not only does it carry an empowering message, it does so in a beautifully written way!

And definitely...
about time that you posted a poem like this rather than sad, bleak and hopeless. This still speaks with honesty of the pain and difficulty of life. But it also talks about having the strength to get through it. You have that strength! Life isn't always fair but as my father used to say, learn to roll with the punches. My best friend and one of the finest people I know has either been through or is still going through now: two divorces, a nervous breakdown, neurological problems including tremors and a son who went to jail for four years and still has an addiction to alcohol. Plus Jeff was just told that he has a "marker" for Parkinson's Disease! Is he scared? For sure! Are his son and I scared for him? Definitely! But is Jeff panicking or giving up? Hell no! He's facing this with an open and Zen-like mind and dealing with it as best he can. That is an example of the type of strength you have as well, born from what you've gone through. Like Jeff please use that strength to cope with what life throws at you! Good luck! Another SL!

Namaste,
Mike

For the dark hours
Good rhyming, good philosophy. Something to be read in the day of trouble.

There is Faith ...
..in believing that your God is near to hold you and guide you dispel every fear. There is Hope in tomorrow for miracles too, just hold on to your belief in what He can do.
