Seems So Easy

From a distance I can dream
I can ride upon the oceans
No-one here to cause me pain
I can feel my own emotions

Turn the tide, and turn the lights out
This is only temporary
What has been won't come again
Life can be extraordinary

Years tick by as if they're seconds
But we still form memories
I'm content to keep on breathing
Floating on these open seas

What will come? I do not know
I'm thinking of the days gone by
I find a place, no point in leaving
No use in being high and dry

Seems so easy
When you stop and think it through
When you stop and catch your breath
You wonder why you felt so blue

Seems so easy
From a place so far away
From a distance, I'm elated
Sorrow never here to stay

Seems so easy
When the night is drawing near
When the eyes decide to close
And troubles they just disappear

Seems so easy
No more night and no more day
Just a flash across the sky
Until the whole thing fades away

Just a flash across the sky
It all just fades away

Ah, what a powerful closing in "a flash across the sky".

This was so well written, with fluidity throughout and what I'll call "wrinkle-free rhyming". Simply, smooth, but not something that could be glossed over. At least not by these eyes.

Life ain't easy
Another great poem, it reminded me of a song, "It's so easy" in fact I started singing it after reading the last four stanzas. I spent all of my adult life at sea and witnessed many tide turns and Ocean rides. It was the third stanza that moved me the most, speeding seconds and memories that form. Another great read so thanks for taking me down memory lane. Take care Rod.
