Cedar Falling

Cedar Falling

Call me upon February chilling breeze
When the afternoon spiritually sings
and the scarecrows in Ireland's lush green
turning toward the great falling Sun
Where beauty bows from the sky
in the shape of billion butterflies

Ribbons on the branches
to the evening symphony they weep
in each born star~ a remaining memory
Showing me where the fireflies ever sear
then the fragrance of wet grass will linger
each night, through Belfast streets

Though the Cedar fell
still Your Soul is lofty there
blessed, ever glowing*
still missed, yet free and fine~

A sadness looms over those whose presence on page is no longer here but in our hearts they will forever be way into eternity. Thank you for your sincere wishes. May your days be sunny always.

"Where beauty bows from the sky in the shape of a billion butterflies." What a wonderful description of a rainbow. It is also somewhat sad, however, for it reminds me of how much butterflies seem to have have disappeared since I was a boy. They were abundant in glorious colors then, but now I seldom see any.

Thank You for Your kind visit and words to my humble tribute, much appreciated ~

Lovely words. A fine tribute to a fine poet. LS your phrasing, even though in an elegy, is exquisite. Each heartfelt word jumps off the page. RIP moonshadow...SL..~Paul

Dear Paul, my ever fine friend, thank You most deeply for being here upon this humble tribute, Your presence matters a lot and is greatly appreciated.

I hope You and Your sweet family are doing just fine, You will have to excuse my absence as life being more tough here.

Fallen quill
The sheer beauty of this poem is offset by the fact that it is an elegy for a poet with whom this reviewer traded a fair number of comments. His writings were often on the somber side (Although he could be funny, too.), reflecting possibly his own circumstances relating to having lived in "the time of troubles" in Ireland. He was a spiritual man, taking solace in "The Imitation of Christ," by Thomas a Kempis. He will surely be missed, but the poet has given him a hauntingly beautiful sendoff here. Verse 2, with its imagery of fragrance linger
ing through Belfast streets is truly awesome. The most any of us can hope for is that someone will write such words of us after our passing. Very well done.

I always think that tributes mustn't be written only when the one passes away, but also to show how You feel about them while they are still among us, I don't feel guilty because I've written for him some poems before, and I already know how he used to know me well enough and how I respected and cherished him, You and I talked about this before, and I sure know how Your great being can feel and describe him perfectly well.

I don't want to lose You too dearest John, but I also must promise You that I will do my very best to fillful Your wish here.

Thank You, greatly*

Oh, if I was still around to write for sure lol

Littlesong replied on February 17, 2017

You better be around to write!  But be advised, I take very good care of myself, so it's going to be a long, long time from now.
