Every day on the news
I see the horrible wounds of war
festering on children,
widows and soldiers
I hear about neighborhoods
where daily drive bys
are a sickening reality
There is so much blood being spilled
that it has become the norm
I am really trying to "Imagine"
like John Lennon did
But the world keeps deteriorating
And my tears continue to flow
Should I stop caring
Be wrapped up in myself
Like most people
No I refuse to do that
Because I see the word apathy
written all over the gates of Auschwitz
And the cold heart
of this current dystopia

I am not sure if this is a beat down Trump message but your words hold power and you are incredibly correct. I implore you to watch a video by the cranberries called "War Child". It will break your heart. I honestly believe this new president can make a difference in the positive. I certainly hope so. All my best.

Heartbreaking . . .
to read and even more heartbreaking to know you speak the truth.

War! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!

You are by far...
to good and kind a person/poet to be apathetic my friend. A poem sad but well penned and I all too often feel the same way but I too refuse to stop seeing. Two thoughts for you to help you feel a bit better Sir. Check out a fine singer named Michael Johnathon. He can be found right here on the Net. All his songs are great but listen to one called "Mountain" which talks about cutting through apathy. The other thought is The Kindness Diaries which I see you already discovered in my poem. The same man is also on Youtube in shorter segments of his acts of kindness. Our world is certainly very sick and sad all too often but there is kindness all around too if we look for it!
