486. The Fate Of HMS Charlotte

Many talk of HMS Queen Charlotte
carvings of her magnificent bow
and her mysterious disappearance
stories told do the truth no justice

Some speak of it being sunk
in vicious naval battles or by fire
of sea monsters and the like attacking
the reality is far more disturbing

It was sunset on a fine summer’s day
travelling through the waves under full sail
in pursuit of a vessel with no colours
in the hope of capturing her for King George

Walls of glass mysteriously appeared
surrounding the ship as it shrank
there was nothing the captain and crew could do
but watch helplessly as their fate was sealed

The ship ended up in a bottle
abandoned on a sandy beach
doomed to sail for eternity unless it is released
never to reach port again
