WILL YOU GO WITH ME

Lord, be at my side when I knock on the door;
For I've sullied myself and I know the score.
If not for You, He'd not let me in,
For I am unworthy and covered in sin.

Will You come with me when before Him I stand?
Will You speak for me, will You hold my hand;
For I am afraid Lord, and I am ashamed,
For my body and soul are ugly and stained.

I've been touched by anger and envy and lust,
By greed and vengeance and filled with mistrust;
But since You found me I've tried hard to change.
It's been a slow process but I've rearranged,

The way that I see things, the way that I feel.
It happened when finally I knew You are real.
I invited You in and You changed my life.
I've slipped many times and there've been times of strife;

But You have stuck with me through thick and through thin,
And You never left me, You're my only true friend.
So when the time comes will You come with me,
For as long as You're there the sin He won't see.

He'll listen to You if You'll speak for me.
He will forgive, if You'll forgive me.
I'll no longer reek with the stench of my sin,
For You saved me and cleansed me, and You brought me in.

Author Notes

Without Jesus there is not one of us who can be accepted into Heaven.
Jesus said,"I am the way, and the truth and the life.
                     No man cometh unto The Father except through Me."
He is the Good Shepherd. And like the lamb that went astray He will come and save us and bring us home but only if we ask Him to and only if we try to live the way He directs us to live.
It's sort of like when your father tells you not to play with certain people who might harm you or not to play in the traffic because you will get run over.So when God says "Don't do that."
Don't be a dope. DON'T DO THAT.

Great write
I am a Christian and I want to thank you for letting people know that Jesus can wash away our sins and no one is perfect and Jesus will forgive us when we do wrong. I know there are other's who will agree with me when I say this is wonderful. Thank you.

The piece is well-written, the flow is smooth.As a piece of poetic work, it shines .But the message is what struck me powerful and meaningful. Excellent work. SL indeed

Truth
As a Christian, I say God bless you, Judy. You are my sister in Christ and I look forward to seeing you when we all stand before the Lord. This is lovely. Have no fear. We are saved by Grace, not by works. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God but thanks to Jesus we are pure before God. Bless you.

Amazing!
It was a heart touching poem & respecting to the God and know the only Salvation is there. When we pay for our sins it will be very painful. Thanks for that inestimable message. Love this poem. Hoping to hear from you.

nicely written Judy. Our moral compass seems to be off kilter these days. I think it's time to get back to listening to the Lord. Well penned and great message.

Hi Judy what a very loving and truthful write, right down to your Author's Notes. I hope you are ok. Your profile page says you have been away for 27 days. Drop a line when you can. A little worried now seeing you away so long, but I know sometimes it just can't be helped. Hugs, Lesa

Jesus forgive you dear
we are all sinner my friend, but the Lord will forgive us if we ask for forgiveness . This message you send to all of us is a very important one and we must head your message if we wish to God to forgive us. There is much sin and evil in the world and it is getting worse by the day. Thank you for your wise words. Praise the Lord, God bless.

beautiful poem, and on your note below it preach it sister a triple amen and a hallelujah! Jesus said I am the vine, and his Father is the True Vinedresser whoever abides in Jesus, and God bears much fruit, but whoever does not abide in the Son nor the Father will be burned, and thrown into the fire

Unfortunately, these
days not everybody has that little voice of conscience that tells them not to do that. Times have certainly changed. I went to church last Sunday and there were 8 of us there. I remember when the churches were filled and you could hear voices lifted in song praising out Lord. This is beatuifully penned, Judy, and they are my self same feelings. SL to you. Sarah

Well written
I do not normally read religious poems, but I thought I would read it anyway. Unlike many religious one I have read, I actually liked enjoyed this one. It has an almost child like simplicity about it, though obviously I know that it was not written by a child. On for the spot light I think. Thanks for sharing
