I could have missed it all
I've been going back over the years
It's weighing heavy on my heart
Writing this down between the tears
Trying to figure out how to start

So many times I wasn't there
Always one place or another
You must have thought I didn't care
Luckily you had your mother

Being away from you those 2 years
Have made me see the light
Now I am facing all my fears
you, my daughter have taught me how to fight

I've fought and beat some big guys
But this addiction I couldn't beat
I listened to all their lies
til the judge took me off the street

The day I came home was a brand new start
We all fought to stay as one
I came home with a brand new heart
Daddy and his girls are gonna have some fun

In your life I know I missed a lot
I think about this when I start to fall
I hold onto life with everything I've got
Cause I know I could have missed it all

Author Notes
This piece is for my wife and daughter, who waited patiently for me to come home from Prison. It was only 2 years, but I missed so much

Helpful: Thumbs Up Thumbs Down
An awesome testimony
Bravo for you, my poet friend. I will say a prayer for you and your family. I have never experience neither an addiction nor prison, but I have known many who have, and very few are the tales of success. Stay Gold.
