The Tears of Andrea

My sweetheart, please do not shed a tear for me
because I have to, out of the country depart
Though the birds of the sky can wander so free
The borders of man shall tear our love apart

My sweetheart, please do not for me look so sad
just hold me tight let me feel you a last time
in the vagaries of time this love will be a fad
our crush shall with silence betray in our prime

My Sweetheart, please do not for us feel guilty
the time we spent together lives in my memory
better than my Papa's love which was flighty
I shall always remember you as my love allegory

My sweetheart, please do not for my sake flounder
If you truly love me you must seek your destiny
let the experience we had become an echo sounder
beware a broken heart leading to a life of ignominy

I am strong like a rampaging amazonian queen
I am immunised by our luckless love like a vaccine
I shall block out all the negativity like a screen
I shall conquer my fears with a zest before unseen

Author Notes

This is my first commisioned poem. It is about a girl called Andrea, who lived in Canada from age 8 years to 20years and considered Canada her home. She met and was in love with her only ever boyfriend. Unfortunately, due to a family breakup while they were regularising their stay in Canada things fell apart. She was asked to depart with her mum living behind her lover and the life she has come to know. This peom is for her.

Congratulations on getting your first commissioned poem. That must be exciting for you. I thought the poem was quite good. It was full of emotion and had a lot of meaning and a good message to it, left behind. What a sad poem, really. carmurr

You describe a sad situation indeed. But at the same time, where I live we are seeing the horrible consequences of unchecked illegal aliens living in our midst. Most of them are just people trying to better themselves, but there are also those who are scary, freeloaders, dangerous drivers, criminals, and who expect to get everything free. Elton

I agree that society in general is made of "people trying to better themselves, those who are scary, freeloaders, dangerous drivers, criminals, and who expect to get everything free". and they are not just illegal aliens.
