Sometimes I Forget

~Sometimes I Forget~

Sometimes I forget
To say these things out loud
Leading me to regret
Your eyes full of doubtful clouds
I truly never meant
For this to happen
You know our love is heaven sent
And so do I
So please don’t do it
I swear don’t you cry
Sometimes I forget who I am to you
And only remember what
I want to be to me
Or at least I close my eyes to
What I don’t want to see
So let me ease your pain
With a soft little kiss
Everything between us is still the same
As yesterdays bliss
Please I must shut my eyes to you
If you’re going to persist
This is not uncommon for me to do
Please no more guilt and pity I must insist
Sometimes I forget to say things
That I ought to say always indeed
I just need to reach for my brass rings
It’s something I have to do that I really need
Please don’t look at me that way
I’m oh so very sorry you can see
And we’ll wake up to a new day
When it will be a brand new story
So don’t you dare cry
Dry your deep blue eyes
We know the stars in the skies
Are the same for you and me always
I would never leave you
I will never go astray
Except into myself
On my little shelf
All hope is never lost
Between you and I
Under the same sun, moon,
Stars and sky.

Helpful:

It's like one of those "kitchen table moments" when we see beyond the coffee cup....and wonder what other people think...about us...telling them how we feel...
