Jokes and Cokes at Ten
|
"Momma can I keep him" Was all I could think to say. The shaggy little kitten boy, Was the prize I brought home that day. Usually it was just a button, Or a bolt all rusted and broken, From my walk home- Just some small token. But today I'd brought home sweet bounty. The finest boy in the county. Or at least in my own school. This guy cut me to the quick, Made this little girl drool. That's the way I felt that day, And I felt pretty cool! So when I got home with him in tow, I begged my mom To put on her best show, For me and my brand new toy. The first one who ever kissed me, The first love I gave to a boy. Let's just say her reaction, Was just shy of amusement and joy. Mom just nodded her head Up and down, Looked at me and without a sound, Went to the fridge, And poured out three cokes, And listened with me, To his silly jokes. And this is the story of how, I first spent my first boyfriend day. And like a sacred cow, I lingered on every word he'd say. I hoped by tomorrow it'd still And always be this way. Just between the three of us, No muss, no fuss, Just jokes and cokes, And mom once again, Putting up with me at ten.
