Forget Me Not
One day you will forget me.
My name will be a foreign word on your lips despite the many times you had said it with glee
The memories we had once shared a distant dream
Our joyful laughter now simple echoes caught in the wind
You will find comfort in someone else;
Whispering the secrets you would have once told me
I could tell you the moment you started slipping from my fingers,
When the light started fleeting from your eyes
If I would have known we would have had last words I would have recorded every hello and
would have never said goodbye
Because now I have to close my eyes to see your smile or look at the stars to see your eyes
Cover my ears so that the only voice I heard was yours, stand in the middle of a room so that your touch would last forever but who would have known that forever would have been that short.
Even now, friend or foe, I don't think I could ever love you more.
And despite the fact that I was easy to forget,
You will always be a constant in my head.
