         JUST AMBLING ON>>>>>

What makes it that we are no longer strong?

The years have taken its hold
Why must we ever grow old?
Why do bones and flesh fail to give support?
Noticeable is the way you hold your cup
Noticeable is the unsteadiness of the one - no longer a pup.
Gone are the days when on that podium you stood.
Proud of everything you did that was good.

On the dance floor you gladly did your stuff
You took applause, you did it madly enough.
Now things aren't what they used to be
I know that we should be grateful for~
the love and care of those most close to us:
for memories shared that make us 'be' ...
the man/woman we are today ~ grateful for life
                             come what may.

The heart conceals a secret code ~ it alone will take us
                          along life's pathway.

I watch the sunset and wonder why there's reason to cry.
Sad and happy memories keep flooding in >>>>
It ain't natural to feel like this ~ as we recall moments of bliss,
but now that they are just a memory <<<
We'll just amble on ~ Just Like This!

A Touching Piece
I have to say I live with my 94 year old grandma, whom I look after. She can't live alone. However she is so strong still, she has slowed down some but is strong...bones and strong willed. I however in my early 40's feel like she's in better health than me! It seems like ever since I turned 40 it has been one health issue after another but hey, we gotta keep going. I really liked this piece. Excellent as always. Take care and God bless.

What about the saying 'life begins at forty'? I have heard of a 90 year old taking flying lessons too! I think the older generation got the best of everything in genes. Thanks for this lovely review and for pointing out facts of life. So grateful for the 'gifts'

Wonderful dedication
and I am sure your friend was greatly honored for your pen to remember him. I am not a fan of growing older either. So hard to believe that so many years have passed us by and the mirror reveals a stranger in place of the person that has always been you. Take good care my dear friend. Lesa

Thank you so much Lesa For this kind visit. So many of my dear family and friends have become ill or have passed on - young and old. Sad moment as news of my brother - in- laws passing on has just been received. Your 'gifts' are most welcome. Blessings to you and yours, my dear friend.. Rod and  'Er indoors' liked it!

Been there a while.
I am going to keep ambling Kitty and while I have fellow writers and friends of your category I will amble forever. I know the bones start to ache and although I still attempt a dance now and then, (backed up by whiskey) Er indoors will call a halt before the unsteadiness makes an appearance!! Lovely poem with every point known to our age group made with pride. If the Oldie that this has been dedicated to is who I think it is then Thanks a billion my sweet.. Please don't ever let age take over, we can beat it in verse. take care. Rod. SL

You are so kind, my friend. Good that we can get inspiration from each other! Thanks for a smashing review. Hake care of yourself ... and Er indoors and keep on ambling along!

At my age I see more and more people I knew pass on. From a practical standpoint, though, think how crowded the world would be if everyone ever born were still alive. Please pardon the flippancy. Well done, Kitty..

Be as flippant as you want my dear friend. Age warrants it! What's there in life if we dare not be 'flippant' once in a while!
Thanks for your valued visit and for leaving 'gifts'. Have a pleasant day!

Kitty I absolutely love this poem it sings to my soul, it is a beautiful thing to become proud and humble with age that is the best wisdom of them all, once again I appreciate your playful tone and richness with truth here, very intellectually and playfully rhythmic! It's a beautiful poem just like your soul..

Thank you so much "B" for this lovely appraisal. Just poking fun at Rod, whom I know can take it - square on the chin!
