No way out, they could find
|
So many painful nights without sleep
Unsettling thoughts both dark and deep
Pen scratching paper, their only friend
Upon page after page they write
Staving off pain through a sleepless night
Is this all that remains until
The end ?
Into this trap they were lured
By broken promises and un-kept word
Generously baited, they believed the lie
Each day is never too late
To escape such a terrible fate
Instead they cry for help, hearing
No reply
Sleepless nights, so passes the year
Imprisoned and tortured, living in fear
Cruel tormentor, it’s fang jaws agape
Another sleepless night in terrible pain
In this hole they would remain
No hope of rescue or will
To escape
Imprisoned and never changing their ways
Through sleepless nights and weary days
Their cries for mercy, cruelly mocked
No way out, they could find
From the prison in their minds
Even though knowing those doors
Remain unlocked
