Like a Soldier 
It'll be me
marching down the dirt road
just like a soldier
with my riffle in one hand
and my courage in the other
ready to fight for you,
My Love.

It'll be me
on the front line
just like a soldier
with my heart in my chest
giving it my best
fighting for you,
My Love.

It'll be me
terrified to death
just like a soldier
with last words playing in my head, "I'll never find another."
as I search for cover
fighting for you,
My Love.

It'll be me
bleeding for you
just like a soldier
and just to think, with three words,
this war could be over
as I fight for you,
My Love.

Helpful: Thumbs Up Thumbs Down
This short poem tells well the story of a soldier fighting and dying for his country and missing home. It is full of emotion and patriotism. Its repetition enhances the feeling

The only problem I can see is line four in stanza 3 is too long. Maybe it could be
My last thought, "I'll never find another.

My Love."


Great lines full of power and love. I think the last line would have more impact if you only said it once... like, just at the final verse. I reckon it'd hit the heart more.

Nicely done! I loved this write. The spirit of determination and will power for ones love and loved ones is grasping. The words were fantastically spun with emotions....

I really enjoyed this. Not to be blunt; but unlike the other reviewer, I read the words and felt the emotions. This really hits home; I live in a military town, so the simile is very relatable. "I love you" can solve a lot. But fighting for it shows true compassion and love. Great job with this one!
