I remember this disaster
Like it happened today,
My eyes were filled with tears
My heart broke in a massive way..

I thought this can't be happening
No way, is it real,
The tears and heartache is for America
And right now how they all feel..

I then thought On no
I too had a friend working there,
In one of the restaurants
Not sure were...

Every TV station had the same
The minute by minute update,
And I was so hoping that
I would again see my mate..

The fire and smoke from the buildings
The screams and fear all around,
The horror seeing bricks that once stood stern
Crashing to the ground..

Every year that passes is a year
That people have started to heal,
It's not that they have forgotten
Because September 11Th was tragically real..

But even though I'm not an American
Even though I wasn't right there,
My heart goes out to you all and mates family
because I unconditionally do care

This is a touching, sad, topic, but wanted to add my part as I lost a mate there that horrible day.

Helpful:

I was crying when I wrote the remembrance pieces for my mother. I cried when I wrote my memories of 9-11. September is now the most painful month of the year for me. The sadness and shock will never go. Because every year they will resurface. I'm not an American either, but we do have some very dear friends in the US, and family links.
My thoughts and prayers are with all those who lost loved ones on that dreadful day. Particularly our friend whose cousin died on Flight 93.

Very,very good...

This is so well written,I can barely see what I''m writing because I am choked up with tears,and my eyes are blurred because the sadness flows down my face.and my heart still carries that ache from 10 years ago.We have risen up from the ashes but we still feel the pain from that day.

A very emotional piece. What I really like about this poem is that, you had maintained your message; at the same time, managed to follow the rules of a poem such as rhyming & theme.
