Brother

~~Brother~~
i tried to cry
i tried to cry for you
the sky was twighlight and true
when they finally broke thru
but i realized
with swollen eyes
i was crying for me not you
so i tried to write
i tried to write a song for you
it was all black red and blue
but it didn't quite do
didn't quite hit the mark that was you
and didn't say what i wanted it to
i tried to love
i tried to love you dearly
stuck thru thick and thin yearly
until four of them went by
with the assurance that i did try
had to say so long
to your rage and jealousy so strong
so 15 more years came and went
seems now way to many spent
not staying in touch
not even a merry christmas or some such
and then~
for a time we met again
wiser, knowing the same pain
this time right was on our side
but then you died
37 and gone to heaven
dear brother, bye bye.
