Login Issues: Privacy & Cookies


NOTE: After following the steps outlined below, please make sure you clear your cookies/cache and then reboot your browser.

If you are having trouble staying logged in to the site or keep getting logged out every time you click on a link, it is probably due to your privacy settings and/or cookies. In order to use this website you will need to accept cookies. Cookies are small harmless text files websites place on your computer in order to remember you the next time you visit.

Please configure your browser to accept cookies from Writers-Network.com or lower your privacy settings. For complete instructions on how to do this, click on your browser type below:

Internet Explorer or AOL
Netscape 6, 7, or Mozilla
Firefox
Opera

Internet Explorer or AOL


  1. At the top of your browser, go to Tools or Edit (depending on the version of your browser), scroll down and click on "Internet Settings..."
  2. In the General tab (first page of options screen) locate the Temporary Internet Files section and click on the Delete Cookies...
  3. Once you have cleared all your old cookies, Click on the "Privacy" tab at the top. Bring your slider down to Medium or Medium High and then click "Apply"
  4. In the same section (Privacy), click Edit... then in the Web Sites/Sites... locate the text box that says 'Address of Web Site' and enter: www.writers-network.com and click the "Allow" button next to it.
  5. Save your settings by clicking OK in each window until the options window closes.
  6. In order for these changes to take effect, please close all open browser windows and then open a brand new one. Go to the www.writers-network.com and try logging in again. You should not have any further trouble.
If you continue having trouble even after you have followed these instructions, we recommend downloading another browser like Firefox, it's free and works well with this site.




Netscape 6, 7 or Mozilla


  1. At the top of your browser, go to Edit and scroll down and click on "Preferences..."
  2. Click the Advanced section (in the bottom left category section), then click Cache in the left menu that opens below it.
  3. On the right side you will see a button that reads "Clear Cache", click on it (may take a few moments to complete).
  4. On the same section in the Compare the page in the cache to the page on the network area, make sure "Every time I view the page" is selected.
  5. Next, Go to the Privacy & Security section, click Enable all cookies
  6. Save your settings by clicking OK in each window until the options window closes
  7. In order for these changes to take effect, please close all open browser windows and then open a brand new one. Go to the www.writers-network.com and login to your members area.



Firefox

  1. Click the Options... menu item located in the Tools menu
  2. Click the Privacy section (on the left), then open up the Cookies section in the right hand pane
  3. You have two choices, depending on your security requirements:
    • If you are happy to accept cookies from all web sites then make sure the Enable Cookies option is checked while the sub items are cleared
    • If you wish to add permission only for the Writers-Network.com website to use cookies:
      1. Click the Exceptions... button
      2. Enter www.writers-network.com in the Address of Web site: text box and click the Allow button next to it
  4. Save your settings by clicking OK in each window until the options window closes
  5. In order for these changes to take effect, please close all open browser windows and then open a brand new one. Go to the www.writers-network.com and login to your members area.



Opera

  1. Go to the Preferences... menu option located in either the File or Tools menu
  2. Click History and cache near bottom left
  3. Make sure Always is selected in the Check documents drop down on the right
  4. Your browser's cache settings are now configured. For the cookie settings, please continue
  5. Go to the Privacy section on the left, under the History and cache option used earlier
  6. Make sure Enable cookies is checked and Accept all cookies is selected next to Normal cookies
  7. Save your settings by clicking OK in each window until the options window closes
  8. In order for these changes to take effect, please close all open browser windows and then open a brand new one. Go to the www.writers-network.com and login to your members area.

I like cookies...I didn't understand this...but I don't think I nee it anyways...but cookies are always good! especially Oreos!! and peanut butter cookies!! sometimes I get crumbs I my computer from eating cookies!! and remember C is for cookie!!
