My first novel is going to be a vampire story.
It's about a girl named Heather, who is indeed a human, who would do anything to avoid
these vampires named Cecila, Aiden, and Alex. Cecilia is outgoing and open, Aiden is
more relaxed, but Alex keeps to himself and seems mysterious. It bothers Heather that
she knows nothing about Alex, yet she feels the need to be so interested in him.
She would do anything to not be turned into a vampire, but by how things go in the story,
it seems like that's what has to happen.
Well.
Does this sound interesting?
Or a knock-off, cheap, annoying book.

She also has a best friend named Jacob who hides from her that he's a
vampire, because she hates them and believes they will all hurt her. When
she discovers this, she's scared of him, but she's also hurt that he never
told her.

I'd like to a little more summary of the actual story line, so I can follow your idea and to know what makes the novel truly unique.  Something like: A, B and C are first year medical students at an ive league university.  They are also vampires.  A is ougoing, B is private and C is mysterious.  A is entralled with C, but fearful as hers is the only vampirism that can be reversed.  Etc.  What is the story?

No offense but it does sound a lot like Twilight just from the summary.

To make it unique will take some work in the actual writing, that's the key. Good luck with your story and I'd love to see how it turns out.

Resistance is futile!

Need a better synopsis that's what it basically boils down to. You need a hook, great one would be best, to draw people in and keep them there. So far, you have nothing but a scant outline. Work out the story more and post an update. Remember: be different, unique in a cool way, and be your own author. I havent even read Twilight and only seen the commercials for the movies, and even I thought of that stuff when I read your brief stuff. No harm in using influences. We all do that. Just remember to take those influences and use them to make something new and completely yours.
Also, don't be timid and shy away from writing just because aren't in love with your ideas. Get used to it. Critics will always be around. They will always hate or love too much. Develop that thick skin now while it's relatively easy going.
Cheers,
JA

Sounds like its going to be great, hope it goes well for you. Sounds like it could even be a series.
It is defiantely all about how you write it and promote it to get the best from your story.
All the best.
