Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. I know that's sort of a cliche answer, but I really do love that book. I pretty much love everything about it. Haha. I felt like I could relate so much to Holden Caulfield...I actually cried at the end of that book. And I love how it was written.

A close second favorite is The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.

AWESOME! I just ordered Catcher in the Rye YESTERDAY from Amazon. I've always heard such good thing about it but I never had a chance to read it. I am really excited now smile

I also order some Nicolas Sparks books... I'm a SUCKER for romance.

Yeah? Like I said; it's great. I hope you enjoy it!

And I'm not a huge fan of romance, but I loved A Walk to Remember. I've never read anything else by Nicholas Sparks...do you have a favorite book by him that you could recommend? That'd be awesome.

A book called thief of Souls by a Darraian North, it's about this guy whose wife gets put under a cults spell, hex, brainwashing what have you and he tries desperatly to get her out, you can tell that a lot time and effort went into researching and studying cults. and it is a damn good read

Hmmmmmmmm

One of my most favorite all time books is Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy. I am a huge fan of his work, although I will only touch the books that he himself wrote...I will not go near any of the books that he co-wrote with someone else. I find that Tom Clancy has one heck of a writing style and he goes into so much detail and his knowledge is just amazing, and the way he writes the characters and things I can almost visualize the people.
Other favorite books of mine by Tom Clancy are Without Remorse, Red Storm Rising and Teeth of the Tiger.

I must also say that I was a HUGE fan of the Illiad, now THAT is a book if you wanna read one wink  Took me awhile to get through it, but I did it..Took a couple of years, as I had lost the book and had re-found it and picked it back up..

My fav book is Ramesses by Anne Rice.
It is simply a gripping story and well written.
Apart from that I tend to read Stephen King, Christian Jacq or Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Chappie and me by John Craig

The most moving book I have ever read. I read it in the 7th grade and I have never forgotten the story. I have read at least a thousand books in my life and this one is the one that had the most impact on me. It is a little known book compared to Catcher in the Rye, Clockwork Orange, etc.. but it is a story that one never forgets, and really isn't that what a book is meant to be?

I do not have a favorite book, such a thing is hard to find from me, a unicorn, but I lean towards Terry Goodkinds Faith of the Fallen, as for writers, I'm a sci fi/fantasy sort of guy, and I read authors such as EE Knight, Karen Miller, and many others..

Never did get into Catcher in the Rye though, thought it was a little... idk, whiney, forgive me for saying that, but I never did get it... My english teacher hated me for it I think,

There is such a thing as a favorite book

I'm sorry to say I'd have to give a list as well, waaay too many awesome books to read. I will recommend some amazing authors though

Jim Butcher (Dresden Files and The Codex of Alera) - nothing to say that would honor him more than letting you expeirence it for yourselves  :green:

Kim Harrison (The Hollows) - a little "racy" I believe the term is, but funny, action packed, and all around awesome series.

Tamora Pierce (The Magic Circle, The Lioness Quartet, ect.) - more a a young adult author, still some great reads.

Robert E. Fiest (Magician, Silverthorn, ect.) - I have no idea how he does it, but I'm on this guys 11th book I think and he has tied them all together and has many more. I have never read an author with a saga like this before.

Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) - again more young adult but a great series.

Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen - an amazing story with a very deep message about... atonement is the only word I can think of though this isn't a religious text. I think everyone in the world should read this book and that is saying something.

I obviously could keep going, but then I might get in trouble

Carrie by Stephen King. It was a beautifully written thriller/horror book that had everything!

My favorite book of all time is "The Complete Book Of Witchcraft" by Raymond Buckland.
Paganism/Wicca changed my life forever - for the better.  Once I found it I no longer felt alone in this World.

Dang, what a sappy statement Timmie.  LOL  Sorry everyone, I will shut up now.

Resistance is futile!

Can't just name one of all time, but here a few favs:

The Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien.
Dante's Inferno
The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick
Invisible Monsters and Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk (two books)
A short story by HP Lovecraft titled, The White Ship
And another short story, by Harry Bates, titled, Farewell to the Master (which inspired two movies of the same name: The Day the Earth Stood Still). The story is far superior to both, in that the movies are essentially wholly different than the story (a few similar elements, but the key/twist to the story is entirely ignored by the movies and which poses an interesting question that The Matrix asks. Read the story to find out what that question is).
Lastly, IT by Stephen King. Completely unforgettable images and sequences which the miniseries glosses over (and rightfully so. The images are too mature for tv. I wonder if the reboot stalled or is still moving forward?).

My 2 cents for the moment.

I don't think I've ever read "House of Leaves" sorry  sad

I also haven't read a lot of the ones mentioned by JohnnyAza, I doubt I could get through "The Silmarillion" I find Tolkien a bit dry, but IT was an amazing story, I was actually surprised though. I didn't fins it nearly as terrifying as I had been told it was... And I can't even read Goosebumps, I'm a freak

I really liked IT by Stephen King when I finished reading it, but I would have to say my favorite book is whatever I just finished reading with a few exceptions.
